A white telephone, 40 buttons on it,
Voice activated--shrewd.
A small clock - digital - battery activated,
Punctual—New York time.
A gray answering machine, with a fast blinking red light,
Where the immediate destiny of fools tends to agonize.
365 choices—Christ, with open arms,
Secular, sageness.
Manhattan--cradle of misery.
Institutionalize hysteria---noisy pollution,
Navel of madness.
Wall Street,
Weavers of dreams,
Makers of greed
and heroin.
Alt-ctrl-del
Cyberspace at my fingertips.

Hello Sergio,
My name is Sarah Kaplan Gould, and I'm a senior undergrad student at LIU Global, based at Long Island University Brooklyn. Nicasio Urbina gave me your contact information and suggested that I speak with you.
I am completing my senior thesis project on the use of poetry as a tool for negotiating transnational identity, and I am aiming to focus on contemporary Nicaraguan poets living in New York City. I am interested in doing a interview with you about your poetry, your experience in the city, and the view of Nicaragua from the perspective of New York. Please contact me if you would be willing to meet in the city or to speak with me by phone or email.
Any suggestions for or contact information of other Nicaraguan poets in the city would be greatly appreciated.
I greatly appreciate your time, and hope to hear back from you soon.
Best regards,
Sarah Kaplan Gould
